Baby & Child Havens wants to serve abandoned and orphaned children and babies in a couple of homes in metro Johannesburg by being the hands of Christ to heal and restore. Baby & Child Havens started when a newspaper article in a Johannesburg newspaper highlighted the epidemic of babies abandoned at local hospitals. David and Caroline Webb responded by opening the first Baby Haven in 2003.
Many of our children are the healthy children of HIV+ parents and simply need a safe haven, education and nurturing. Some of our children, however, have been victims of extreme poverty or have suffered neglect, abuse or abandonment. There is no greater joy than to see traumatised children return to the joy of a secure childhood. We have also been privileged to place many children in their forever families, doing all that we can to provide a secure and understanding transition to their “forever families”.
