Baby & Child Havens

Baby & Child Havens

The Baby & Child Havens serve abandoned and orphaned children and babies in five small homes in metro Johannesburg. The Baby & Child Havens started when a newspaper article in a Johannesburg newspaper highlight the epidemic of babies abandoned at local hospitals. David and Caroline Webb responded by opening the first Baby Haven in 2003. Many of our children are the healthy children of HIV+ parents and simply need a safe haven, education and nurturing. A majority of our children are on their way to their forever families and we provide a secure and understanding transition to their “forever families.” Our children are often victims of extreme poverty, from families affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis and sometimes having suffered neglect, abuse, or abandonment. At the Child Havens, traumatized children return to the joy and security of childhood. The Baby & Child Havens’ Joburg homes with two other homes covered by the Havens care can care for over 60 children. Contact Caroline Webb at carolinewebb@africanhavens.org.
